Welcome to The Bon Fu

Here at The Bon Fu we are looking at the future. What is coming soon? What kind of future do we want? How might we get there? What is possible?

While we will provide some answers to these questions, what we are doing is exploring them, because the answers are always moving. As the present changes, as things happen, as we gather data, new ideas form and the outlook changes.

Our vision of the future is bright. We are endlessly hopeful that the world that comes tomorrow as a result of today’s toils will be beautiful. That our children will grow up in a world with less suffering and more possibility than the world we grew up in.

We all do our part to shape what the world will become, from gestures as small as smiling at the person who bumped into us on the sidewalk instead of yelling at them, all the way to Former President Carter dedicating a large portion of his life to eradicating guinea worm from the face of the earth. The Bon Fu is our way of shaping what the world will become.

The Name

The name “The Bon Fu” is phonetically inspired by “Kung Fu.” The intended meaning behind it is “The good future” drawing on “bon” the French word for “good” and abbreviating future to “fu.”

What you can expect

We post as often as we can. We aim to offer a new view on a plain idea. Sometimes we dive deep, other times, we are brief, building a foundation that readers can then ruminate on.

We have a positive outlook. We don’t avoid or shy away from the hard issues, but philosophically, we are envisioning a future that is full of endless possibility. Faster-than-light travel via wormholes? Sure! Life in the oceans under the icy crust of Enceladus? Why Not?! A faucet in the kitchen every modern household that dispenses hot or cold coffee, adjustable to the drinkers preference? Absolutely, and with customizable flavors!!

And, actually, which of those is the least likely?

They all present various engineering and physical challenges, but the mental exercise of offering possible solutions and ways you could actually implement these ideas is way more fun than dismissing them as silly or childish fantasies.
